Hi all. Hi anyone. Hello to whoever!

Its been so long, yes I know. In fact - its been a year since I last logged in to SL. I miss it, yes. But I haven't logged in for four reasons and for some strange unexplainable quirk, I still cant.

Reasons one and two...

Two people hurt me last September. One with their actions (or rather, lack thereof) and the other with their words. The combination of both happening at the same time has impacted me inexplicably.

Reason Three...

The third was a major earthquake in my country that has effected me profoundly - then six months later a second earthquake causing loss of life. Its hard to explain how this has changed my life. I'm more claustrophobic. I'm more worried about the future. But its caused me to try and push forward with my life instead of wasting what precious time I have on this earth.

Reason Four...

The most trivial reason is that I had a lot of trouble getting accustomed to 2.0 and as all four happened at the same time, I stopped bothering/trying/caring.

I miss blogging. I miss exploring. And I miss sharing. But who knew, that there was so much time in the real world?! Now I know why I used to be so time poor and stressed out - I was simply trying to be two whole people: Banana 100% and Me 100%. Unfortunately, Banana became Me, and the real world was something I was just doing in between logins.

I'm in a good place now and I've stopped masking my life with SL. Banana is still a part of me, but she is now in the real world and instead of having a split personality (RL/SL) I now show my Banana side in real life. Thats gotta be healthy, right?

Every now and again I read SL blogs - but it really pains my heart to see things that I am no longer a part of, so I stop reading after only three or four sites. Its nice though, to see all the regulars out there still. Its comforting. So I guess its for that reason - and for those special people - that I've logged on today.

I want all my readers to know that I care. You deserved an explanation to why I seemed to have dropped off the metaverse. And if you couldn't have cared less, then you obviously never knew me well, and you've probably already skipped this mush. lol :)

Anyway, it has bugged me for a year, that my best ever pictures (imho) never got aired. And I hated that when I did happen to log in, that the last pics on my blog were spur-of-the-moment posts. So, I will leave you with three pictures that I'm extremely proud of. I hope you like them as much as I do.

I didnt do a huge buy-up at Designers United, but I just couldnt resist this little Fore number. The Banana Alphabet - O is for Olive

I'm doing a series. I'm making my way through the alphabet and entering in to search a word that starts with that letter. Where I'll end up is anyones guess. Today, O is for Olive.

I didnt know what to expect when I typed in Olive. I knew I'd find Olive Juice (poses) and I Love Olive (Hair), but who knew that I'd end up at a train station?!

And who knew that SL had a railway? Let alone the Great Second Life Railway. Methinks that whoever started this off, had visions of grandeur - where all the SL sims would be joined by this fantastic railway, and people would come for miles to tour the scenery. I admire the idea, and it must've seemed like a good idea at the time... but someone forgot to follow-through as it only covers seven sims. But what the hey - I'm in!
First things first, I'm gonna need a train. Lucky for me, I've landed at the right spot. Wear the throttle, and rez the train. Done. Err - I dont think this is how is 'sposed to go. Right-click ride. How do I drive this thing? After a quick read of the instructions, I find its pretty easy. Type 'align' in to chat and the train jumps on to the train tracks. Arrow forward! Lets try and steer this thing... Oh shit. Time to type 'align' again. I'll get the hang of this, I promise! Yayyyyy!But be warned... sim crossings can be a bitch. But once you're back on track (excuse the pun) the scenery was cool! ...and even tho the track was only a few sims long... ...and the track can be a bit tricky at times... ...by the time I got to the end of the line... ...I was in fits of laughter.

Well worth the experience! Check it out :)

I saw a fab skin on someone yesterday and asked them for a LM. Its one of those places that is nealry impossible to find on search - I don't know if its because of a pesky SL glitch, or due to the store name having something in front of it like :{([.*-^%$~. (ya know what I mean?)

So anyway, I TPd in to I CE COCO and found lucky boards! And not just one or two, but a veritable minefield of goodies! So I sat, and waited... and scored! The more I sat and waited, the more I scored! And the B's and ?'s just kept coming... ...and coming! In the down time, I joined the group - and got another free skin! And while camming around the store, I came across yet another freebie!

Its the small things that make your day, aint it.

I had heaps to show you today, so I tried to lather on as much as possible in to one look!

The greatest of newness is this fabfab new skin given to the Vive9 group. Its the third in a week, and if you didnt get in to the group before the price went up, then its still a pretty good deal for L150!

This vest from Teefy is a current dollarbie instore, and the Shag hair is their submission for Project Themeory this week (L75 for three colors and headband is color-change). The FishyStrawberry top is currently in The Dressing Room (L60 for two colors) and the Miel boots were a limited addition color a little while back - other shades available instore. The CandyDoll jeans are available in 9 different shades - (L100 each, way cool), and the necklace is from Glamourous (L99 - many colors available).

Its been a while since I ventured over to Mother Goose so I went to see what was new... Actually, I was going there to stalk the lucky boards to see what I could score, but they werent there and instead I picked up a whole BUNCH of dollarbies and notsomuchees.

This Rika shape was only L10, and each of the Rika skins was only L30... And this Bini shape was only L10, with its skins at L30... Even tho the new Mother Goose skins are all around a trillion lindys a pop (about L300), there are a million dollarbies (about 22).

These were all L1... As were these... And this one... And this one too... Life is good.

I was hoping to do a funny post on searching for Nothing and finding Everything, so I headed down to a place called Open Source ReSource which promised to be "A resource for content creators, featuring free open source examples, content & creations. Nothing here is to be resold, everything here is to provoke your imagination.". Sounds good, lets go!
On landing, I found myself in a big building and started looking for stuff. Is there any way to TP anywhere? Is there anything here? ANYTHING? I zoomed my camera out, and sure enough, a big building. Of nothing.Then after searching for my flight-feather in my inventory, I spotted this contraption - what luck, a teleporter. Up I go!First floor looked promising - free textures by Torley! Expect lots of Torleys signature pink&greens. Next floor, nothing.

Next floor, nothing.

Next floor nothing.

What did I expect? I put 'nothing' in to search, didnt I?

Next floor - some huds. And then that was it. I picked up a notecard on the ground floor, which cited the resource was becoming web-based, so I checked it out here. But its still being created.

So in the end under 'Nothing', I found, well, nothing. See you next time!

My friend Whales IMd me when I logged on this morning and asked if I would have a dance with him. He set my mind at ease that it was ok to wear jeans - maybe he knew it'd take me a hour to find a dress to wear.

Anyways, off I went to the Dare to Dream club and started to boogie with my dear (old) buddy. I was nervous about dancing at first - I hadnt had a boogie for a while.But when Whales started to really let loose, I started to get more in to it.I shaked my moneymaker(s)...I moved and grooved...I even got my hip-hop on. But then things started to get a bit freakydeaky... ..and Banana started getting a bit crazy......and when she started getting hoochi (even Whales looked surprised), I decided to take Banana home.

I guess the men of SL dont get as much air-time in the blogosphere as females do, so in honor of the masculine of our species, I picked a blokes-spot out of the multitude of places that came up in search when I typed in Mafia and ended up at a place called Mobsters.

It turns out to be a skin shop; since I wasnt feeling like shelling out 800 for a skin, I picked a Belleza one that I've had sitting in my inventory gathering dust. I knew I kept it for a reason!

The Mobsters shop has four full mens outfits for 147L each... Excuse me for not having male shoes to match. I'm just glad I found hair.

There are four skins to choose from... ...and I had a bit of a giggle at the search description...

I TP'd to a random spot after entering Kite in to search, and I ended up at Never You Mind marketplace. Yay - Kites! A little bit pricey at L250, but I thought I'd give it a go. I went to a spot where I'd be able to rez my item and thought it best to read the instructions first. Ta-daaaaa! Kite assembled. (Well - rezzed. No assembly required) And up I go! Then down I went. Come on Banana! On the up again... Then I realised something... I wasnt holding on! Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Splat. Dead Banana.

Maybe I'll see you next time. Maybe I wont :(

The Banana Alphabet - J is for Jazz

I'm doing a series. I'm making my way through the alphabet and entering in to search a word that starts with that letter. Where I'll end up is anyones guess. Today, J is for Jazz.

Back in the day (dont I sound old) I used to frequent Jazz clubs. Not for the love of Jazz, but it used to be the only place I could find people! I even took a job as a hostess - and it used to pay well... 200L an hour plus tips. And the tips used to be big - it was not unusual to walk away with over 1000L after one shift. Ahhh - those were the days. And to think I used to spend all my lindens on ballgowns...

So that was over three years ago - what are the old haunts like now? In a nod to the good ole days, I threw on a Last Call dress and off I went. First stop - Franks Place. At the top of the traffic list, I would have thought there would be more people around. But still, a fairly good turnout. (Pst, facelights are so 2008) Then I headed down to Sweethearts. There's usually a good conversation or two to jump in to, but not tonight - just an eclectic mixture of dress code and the odd noob editing their appearance in the crowd. I love that host/hostesses greet you when you enter a club. It shows the owners care enough to pay people to make you feel welcome, and I always try and leave a tip. But when one says to me "Banana, youre not scared someone will ask to eat you? lol", I nearly turned around and clocked her one. Incidently - no I'm not, yes they do, and please stay professional when youre working. No tip for her.

Next up is my old fave Phat Cats. But noone was there. Where is everyone?
Then I headed to Cloud Nine. Noone there either. That's Amore was a bit more lively, but everyone was really casual and noone was dancing. And Bella Vida was empty.
So I headed back to Franks. And yay - more people had arrived! And more facelights, and weird AOs. Gotta love people-watching. Jazz clubs are great places for this!

But what does it take to get people dancing??!

After visiting all these spots, my old friend Whales logged popped up in IM and said Hi. What a night for revisiting my past - so in honor of everyone, a HUGE Ohai to everyone that I used to work with, the friends I made, and all the customers that I used to have so much fun with.

I like finding new stores and things that are new (to me). Although usually my wallet disagrees, today its loving what I found.

Pesca is a pretty cool store thats mighty affordable. I nearly bought the store, but hey, that wouldnt be fair to you. This top is only 50L, as is the skirt... But good-golly-miss-molly, these tops are only 10L.And blow me down with a feather, this top is a free group gift to new subscribers!

I next went to Fore , where this top is a group gift...
And this top is free (available in pink or blue).

And lastly, I visited Enchanty and picked up these 90L stockings. Where I'm gonna where them is anyones guess - I just thought they looked cool.

My last post inspired me to explore a different type of avatar, so I typed Hybrid in search and ended up at a place called Alchemi Beach. The description looked promising "Underworld realm for mystical beings to gather. Open to light and shadow."

Sounds good to me! So I changed in to a hybrid-of-my-former-self with this Mynerva skin and ears (Platinum hunt L10), a cool blue hair from Wasabi Pills (free - Zombie Popcorn hunt item), armbands from Wasabi Pills (free - part of a hunt in celebration of the opening of their sim), Epic romper (L249 ,also available on XStreet here), and GField shoes. How do I look? Very excited about mystical beings, I started looking around. Any in here? Any in here?Are you a mystical being? No? Are you? Are there ANY around here? Cool - a fortune teller bot! Only one lindy - I'm in...Serious. That was the conversation.

Resume searching... Are you a mystical being?HEY!!!

Omg. Is this what happened to all the mystical beings? I'm beginning to think there arent any around. Any hidden here? None in here. I FOUND ONE!Seriously, that was an avatar. Way cool!

Alicia posted about a challenge that was doing the rounds on Plurk and Flickr today. I'm on neither, but didnt want to be left out and the challenge sounded pretty cool.

I'm a huge fan of the 'inspect' function and use it often to find newtome stores. Like today - I was looking at an avatars clothes and whilst drooling, I found out the store was Rotten Toe. So off I went!The group is a painless 15L to join, and you get that back in items in about as much time as it takes to click the boxes at the front of the store.

Yummy, and cheap! My fave.

I havent got in to the whole RP part of SL. I get it why people do it, and I get how people can really get in to it, but I just havent explored that side of our metaverse myself. So here I am, about to take an adventure in to an unknown world.

Firstly... what does one wear? I wanted to be able to TP straight in to a spot without looking like the VERY obvious odd one out.

I googled Gorean and found a trillion different looks and remembered that an old friend of mine had similar outfits at her store. I popped down to Smashin Fashion, scrambled up to the discount room and picked out a 30L outfit. Do I look badass or what?! Next up - where to go. I typed Gorean in to search and oh-my-lord. Oh. My. Lord. SLers really get in to this, dont they? Hundreds of listings. Close eyes - pick one. End up at a place called Northern Divide. Ready to take on the Gors...
Its only fair - since I am in a strange environment and I respect that people take their role-playing seriously - that I open the rules. And there are alot. So I take a seat and start reading.
After reading, I think "Oh shit" cause I'm way outta my depth.
My strategy is to now avoid all green dots in the minimap because I dont feel like being shot, or taken captive. Or god forbid, raped. (Tho the sceptic in me wonders how the heck this would happen without me right-clicking on a poseball. Hmm...)
I took a boat on a bit of an exploration, but ditched it when I started getting close to green dots. Then I climbed to the top of a mountain - without being captured! With my heightened courage, I walked towards the dots... to see what they were doing... scientific research. But I couldnt find anyone. Even with all the dots around me. So I sat and waited my capture. I even lay down on a major roadway. Still no capture.
Oh well. At least I looked good. I must say, I get it. The thrill of running around trying not to get captured, and my subsequent actions trying to get caught, gave me a bit of a buzz. So I get it. And in any case, each to their own.

Turn on the sun!

I thought I was the last to know how to turn on shadows on the 2.0 viewers, but it looks like I'm not. So to save y'all from spending as much time reading other how-to's, I thought I would just write my own. Who knows if its the right, or even best way to do it - I just got it from other sites.

Firstly, find a location. Believe me, you need to do this first. Shadows causes as much lag as a 2006 Second Life Jazz Club. Next up, find your pose and position your camera.

If not already, activate your Develop menu by pressing Ctrl-alt-q. In the develop menu, choose Rendering, then tick Framebuffer Objects... ...then Deferred Rendering... ...then Global Illumination.Voila! From this to......this!

Open up the Environment Editor (World, Sun, Environment Editor)...

...which is where you can adjust the time of day. To play some more, open the Advance Sky editor.

Here is where you can fiddle with the default Windlight settings (and create/save your own). Play as much as you like; you can easily change it back to Default - which it does whenever you log back in. You cant mess this up!For even more fun, click on the lighting tab. Its here where you can change things like:

1. The color of the sun.

2. The position of the sun

3. The angle of the sun

4. The color of things around you

5. The brighteness of your surroundings

So you can have soft lighting with long shadows...

or a bright sun with clear blue lighting. Its all up to you!

But lastly (or actually, firstly), you will need prim eyes when you activate shadows. Or you end up looking like this!

(Note - you wont need prim eyes in 2.0+, only if you plan to activate shadows. Also note that by checking some of the above selections to obtain shadows, it may also effect other prims.)

When I heard that Puddle was having a superdooper 50L sale today, I ran around and around the store snapping up whatever I could. First off, I grabbed the dollarbies on the front counter - this handbag, glasses and I got a few shoes. Then I couldnt stop buying the shoes **Squeallllll**! The prices are still set to their regular price, but the owner - Brinks Lemmon, refunds the difference asap so the price of each item is only 50L. Pop on down and grab as many shoes, belts, bags, glasses, bracelets that you need!

And since I had a new pair of sunnies, I popped in to 2.1 and took a picture in the sun. Awwwwwwwwww... Other points to note:

After buying a pair of cool Docs at the Shoefair, I felt a bit inspired to do a bit of a darker picture today. The Docs are from Gos (store here, but please go to the Shoefair and get them, where 100% of sales goes to the fair charity. Plus, theyre less than halfprice at the fair!).I'm wearing Posh hair/hat, Equilibrium jeans, Mischief top and slathered myself in a skin from Candydoll (blog here) thats currently for sale for only 75L at Fashion House. And for the benefit of Kit, I'm showing all three skintones that come in the pack :)...

If you havent heard of Fashion House (blog here), then you'll be pleased to know that it has items between 75L-100L from a wide range of stores, and they have items from skins to jewellery to clothes to poses and all the bits inbetween. A bit like TDR - all the more items for us consumers!

Hmm. The more I think about that title, the more gross it sounds. Eh.

I got some skins today and wanted to share. I've shown each skin with a shape from one of the stores and the Mynerva skin - because skins change a little on different shapes.

First up is a store called Romi Skins. Skins range between 400-550L but the pack also includes a shape, eyebrows and various facelights (Who uses facelights anymore?). I found a skin upstairs that was only 200L - check it out. I waited and waited for it to rez more, but soon realised that this is it. Its pretty cute and I'm loving the partially open mouth, but the lips bleed on to the face - a bad enough problem irl without it been in SL too.

Next is the Romi Skins group gift. Its 100L to join the group, but c'mon - virtually a 100L skin. Yay! I'm liking the eyebrows on this one more than the first, but I like the lips less.

Next is the latest group gift from Imabee (I've shown the freckled version on the second). You have to join the group to get it, but its free membership.While youre at Imabee, have a look for the Popcorn Hunt item. If you cant find it, you serious need to stop spending so much time in front of the computer and get those eyes checked. :)

I checked out a trillion* face animator thingees today, all in the name of investigative journalism. Cause thats how I roll. (Actually, in started because of this post, and Kit asking me which emoter I use. Unknowlingly, she unleashed a beast.)
*Not a trillion. Actual figure is 16.

First up are some Hud-only emoters...

This one is a Yadni-adjusted Hud that I bought the other day. It cost 159L, and I want to show you how much of a rip-off that is. You'll see from the rest of the post that there are many other options - most of which are free (Yadni's Junkyard is a legendary place with a plethora of free items, thats been around forever. Check it out while we still have it in SL).

This next one is what I've tended to use often because its easy. After testing all the other ones today, I've discovered this isnt the best (for me) and I may end up retiring it. It comes from VR Foundary and is free. It has all 19 animations and up to two can be combined each time. It minimises up to the picture on the top of the screen - and good thing too, because it takes up alot of screen space when open.

This one is from Serenade and this is what happens when you combine too many animations at once. I liked the little faces on the hud, and the expressions were fairly easy to judge. It has 19 options, and it also has a sleep one which isnt on any of the others. It can be minimised down to the little blue arrow and it was very easy to use.

The aDorkable hud from XStreet is also free (there is also a store inworld), and can combine as many faces as you want. I found that the faces were a little hard to see on the hud, and whenever I right-clicked to detach, I ended up picking up something from somewhere behind me! The hud can be minimised down to the aDorkable label at the top.

The Hanuata hud is one I've had in my inventory for ages. So long in fact, that I cant find the store anymore. Sorry 'bout that, so lets move on (Good thing anyway, its too small to see which animation you need).

Next up is a Yadni-adjusted Hud called Lady A's Emoter Hud (only available on XStreet here). Its pretty cool, the Hud is medium sized, minimises to just a blue dot on the screen, and it has all 19 face animations. There is an unlimited amount of clicks on the hud so you can select more than 1 at a time to create some very interesting faces. Best of all, its free.

Next we have some Menu and Menu/Hud emoters...

Firstly, the Face Animator from an aptly named Cannibalism. I bought it for free on XStreet and it came with an inworld LM, but I didnt visit it. Whats the point? The animator attaches to the hand, and once I selected my animation, the menu closed and the expression only lasted a few seconds. The instruction given to re-open the menu didnt work, and when I attached my ring back on to my hand, the thing came off. This rated the lowest for me.

The Zens Mood Chip (Xstreet - 5L) was just a bit of a step up than the last one. It has a hud - which does nothing but sit on your screen and spin. To activate the menu once it closes, you have to type something like /menu234874353423897438953 (slight exaggeration) to get it to reappear. Most annoyingly of all, the chat spam.

Facial Expressions Animations (Xstreet, 9L) was another step up from the last two, in where the hud attaches to the centre of the screen, but is invisible. Once the menu is closed, it will reopen after typing /4 menu. Compared to the other free versions, and all the other options, dont waste your well-earned lindens.

This next one started to look promising with this cute little questionmark attached as a Hud... ... and when the expressions is selected, it turns in to a little smiley face. But... I found the menu a bit clicky. Called the Face Animator 2.0 Expressions Combiner (XStreet, free), sadly enough the best thing about it was the evil picture on the XStreet ad.

Next up is the KP Expression Face Hud, which tied-equal in first place for the menu-driven emoters. It was 1L on XStreet here (inworld here), and with a bit of programming, it can to loop a bunch of animations one after another. After the menu closes, it remains on the Hud as a little blue button. Nice.

The one its tied-first with is the Pandora Hud (Xstreet, 10L. Inworld here) made by the wonderful London Spengler. It allows for some interesting creations with mix'n'match menu, and after the menu is closed, it remains as a small hud on the screen. I did find the menu a bit confusing at first, and it took a bit of getting used too, but its worth taking the time.

This next one was an AO/Emoter/Gesturing combo from Bright Corporation (inworld here) that is currently free on XStreet here. When the expressions button is pressed, the menu comes up and you can pick which one you like. Only one will play at a time, but what it lacks in this area it picks up in others.It comes with a handy notecard, and good clear instructions... ...and has the added benefit of being an AO - so its on your screen the whole time. I found the static stand poses were a bit uncool (not to mention a bit nom-nom), so if it was to become a wardrobe staple I'd be adding my own (if you want to know how, check out this post I made last year). I had heaps of fun playing with the emotions, signals and gestures. Way fun - I'm going to *so* use this when out exploring! And then this happened. Whoops!

A couple of duds I found on Xstreet was the Emoticon Hud (a shocking 10L), which came up when I searched for Emotion. This little sucker allows you to press the button of an emotion and it types in chat the emoticon you need. How lazy are you to need this? Just type it!Incidentally, it does not emote the face.

The other dud is the Expressions item from XStreet. Now this one pissed me off as it was the set of actual animations. Not a hud. Not a menu. The actual animations. For 9L I was seriously ripped off.

Now, for the one unique and stand-out purchase of the day, is the Sensual Facial Animator 1.1 thats free on XStreet here. It allows you to program and loop a series of sensual expressions to play over and over during sexytime. Be warned, youre about to see Banana's orgasm face.

I bet you never thought you'd see that.

Lastly, the jury is still out on if I'm loving this JK Trends necklace. Liking, but not loving the size.

Today... F is for Forever.

I typed 'Forever' in to search and sifted through the usual loveydovey stuff, until I came across something a bit more, er, interesting. The store called How to Seduce Women in SL (+RL). I must say, when I landed, I laughed.
In search is says "The Secrets of Seduction. How to Seduce Women in SL + RL. Tools for seduction. The ultimate book about seduction in Second Life. Change your dating life forever!" There's only five items in the store. Now I'm a woman - its gonna take a bit more than this to change your life forever.And I tell ya, spending 599L on a Love Bear is not the way to do it. And if your performance only lasts 70 seconds, and you call that long, then no Seduction book is going to help you.I was a little interested in this 99L Hud, but then I thought "If you're trying to seduce someone, anonymous comments in chat ain't gonna do it".I didn't buy it. Maybe I should. It could be fun.The one useful item it the Face Animator. If you're a blogger. I bought it to see if it was any different to the 34283787 I have already, and no... its not. Its a Yadni - of which I own already. Grr face.I guess this poster is here for when you've given up trying to seduce a woman and your needing help of another kind...The main item in the store, is the actual book. At 1998L this is quite the bargain.That's me, laughing hysterically.

I clicked on it and got the free first chapter (and I'm yet to receive my free Newsletter), and attempted a bit of serious investigative journalism by reading it.

It didn't give any hints or tips. The first chapter is pure hype for the book. It listed the chapters of the book, and I've added my own Bananahints for you to save you some cash...
• Why SL can really trigger real emotions - Cause we're actually humans behind here. Honest.
• General Mindsets - The reasons why women are on SL vary just as much as the mens reasons. Only the percentages change.
• Your Profile - Its a hysterical insight in to a persons intelligence. Or lack thereof. Type something that expresses who you are and try not to come across as a dick.
• Your SL Home - You don't need one. If you have one, fine. Decorate it as you wish. We don't care. Once we're with you, hand over the keys and we'll redecorate anyway. Its why we read blogs and do all those hunts.
• How to start a conversation - "Hello" is good; quickly followed by a second sentence, or we're likely to move on.
• Whom to talk to - Anyone and everyone. An avatar may not reflect anything at all about the person behind the screen.
• Where to initiate a conversation - Anywhere. We shop lots. Try there.
• How to make her start to talk to you - that's where the second sentence comes in. Make it a question. If she replies with more than three words, and none of them start with F and O, then things are looking promising.
• How to keep a conversation rolling - Third sentences are great for this. And then hopefully more will come. If they don't, move on and stop wasting everyone's time.
• Topics that create attraction - If she's not interested in your topics, and you're not interested in hers, then stop trying. If I tell you here, then you'll only be typing what someone else wants to hear and you'll both be miserable in the end.
• Conversation when the first initial connection is established - Be yourself. See above.

• Conversation Nuggets - I love conversation, and I love nuggets. Pass the sweet'n'sour sauce please! Be careful, as some ladyavatars have a waist so skinny that no nuggets will make it past her upper intestines.
• Flirt techniques that you can use in every interaction - Enthusiasm and interest. Listen and be positive. Simple as that.
• The man women are looking for, your personality - We're looking for someone that doesn't lie, cheat or steal. Hopefully your personality will show that you have none of these attributes. If so, that LM at the store will come in handy. Literally.
• Avatar Look - If she's in to you just because of how your avatar looks, then try an ascertain if she's admiring your work, or wallet, or if she's shallow enough to only like a cute avatar. If you're both just looking for an SL relationship, then its time you spruced up your bruce. Get a good skin and at least one outfit. Here's a tip - at the next FLF, wait at a spot and ask someone to (genuinely) help you go shopping for a look. You'll be fighting off the ladies. (Be warned, most will end up just being friends - but its worth a shot, right? Remember, friends have friends. wink wink)
• Body Language - Get an AO.
• Genitals - You wont need one til you need one. And even then, you still may not need one. And if you must, get one that color matches. Girls run when they see one that looks like its been tied off with a rubberband for some time. Only get a high-tech one if you're planning to us it frequently, and if you're making one, at least try and make it look semi-realistic. Not that we zoom in or anything...
• What to do together in SL - Pretty much everything that you do without each other, except poseballs are more fun.
• How to lead over to physical contact - Lean over.
• How to get her into bed - Buy one and ask her to click on the girl poseball.
• Having Sex in SL - Get on the boy poseball.
• When to do something really nice - All the time. Every day. Never stop. The moment you stop, we wonder if somethings wrong... and thats never a good sign.
• Meeting in RL - Establish this at the start. Why is this chapter so late in the game?
• Conclusion + Final Thoughts - If you want to spend 2kL on a book that'll tell you something may not already know, then all the luck to you.

More stuff to share

I posted the other day about the huge free hair pack from Posh(pack no longer available), but I didnt explain what it was in aid of. The Rumor sim has opened and the pack was in celebration of this. I went and spent a bit more time on the sim, and I enjoyed looking around the stores. Pleasantly surprised, over half of them were new-to-me stores. Yay!
I picked up this free shape from Amperlope, and matched it with a skin from Dekade thats new to TDR-Blue this week. (Follow the TDR link, not the store link, to get the special price of only 70L). Then I found four skins at a store called Strumpet. Only 50L for all 4. There are a bunch of shapes in the middle of the store for only 50L each too. I bought five. The signs sold me (srsly worth a visit to read them. GREAT marketing!). I'll post about them another day.

And lastly, check out these shoes from ABomb. Nice heel, and something I can wear everyday. I'm loving the VERY easy to use hud, and the snakeskin texture is just way cool. It'll be available at the Shoe Fair (squeals - opens SOON) for 150L, then at the mainstore for 300L.

Only once before in my SLife have I ever bought a new shape (actually, I bought eight once, at Boditorium - ohai Puma!). So I even surprised myself when I bought both the shapes at Mynerva. The one shown here is Miranda - but for arguements sake, we'll just call her Banana. She comes with lashes, and that is just plain cool. I'm loving my new necklace from Perturbation (in the Pluto stores on the Bacio sim - geez creators, put your LM in your profile!) and my new Posh hair.

And most excitedly, I need to show you these shoes from the Dominion Fashion District. YUM!

Especially yum cause theres one in Chocolate.

Or maybe cause theyre cheap.

Or maybe cause one pair is free to group members - at the Vinyl Cafe only (group joiner is at the cafe, and the free shoes are in the bag on the coffee table).

Now, I dont have the best of relationships with prim toes. In fact, we have a mutual hate for each other. But this came with an easy-to-use hud and I was able to match my skin with ease. Or maybe its because I was wearing an easily-matchable LeLutka skin. Hmm.

The leather accents are extremely well made - the toes notsomuch. But to hell with it - you cant beat these prices!

I was out looking at new-to-me stores when a ladyavatar asked me if I wanted to visit 'her place'. I hesitantly said yes, and (with my fingers hovering over Ctrl-Shift-H) I went along.
I must say, I was pleasantly surprised and was even heard to be squealling in delight.

Get your mind out of the gutter.

I found myself in a mall called Maritima Inc and its full of avant-garde stores. I especially loveloveloved the Gasqhe Couture store, which is where I bought these four outfits.

I also went in to the Niven store and picked up this number...(mainstore here)

All the oufits gave me a great excuse to wear my new LMK wedges (temporary mainstore here). Love.

Public Service Announcement

Tymmerie from the SL Bloggers group sent out a notice about ways to show support for other bloggers and I reckon both are a great idea, so I am extra-supporting them both by blogging about it.

The other week I mentioned to Kit that a great way to network on the blogs is to leave comments on the blogs you read. Personally, I love people leaving comments and I make a point of checking the person out and reading their own blog. I try and comment on other blogs too, but as with everyone else, I get busy and forget. Elusyve has put down the challenge to: Take the time to leave at least one genuine heartfelt positive comment on someones blog everyday. Applause! -and I'll try!

The Banana Alphabet - D is for Dive

I'm doing a series. I'm making my way through the alphabet and entering in to search a word that starts with that letter. Where I'll end up is anyones guess.

Today... D is for Dive. I entered Dive in to Search and I found an intriguing place called Dive World, which claims to teach you to dive in SL and RL. Well, that sounds promising, so off I went. Of course, the shopping came first, and I purchased the cheapest option for L150 - cause thats how I roll.
Off home to get changed. Prude.
I was excited to see that my new gear came with a hud and an AO. After chopping off my locks and selecting a nice swimsuit (one must look good, you know), I was ready to go! Walking in flippers is not as easy as it may seem. Lucky I had the AO.

Swimming with the Hud is certainly an experience, and it works well to teach you to time your dives.

It kept telling me if I was holding my breath and when I had reached the surface. Gee, thanks.

Once I got the hang of it, I was off! (Nice bumshot dont you think? Marnix will be proud)

But I dived to far down, and couldnt get up to the surface to breathe!

Yes, yes, I know!!!!

With the above screen flashing on to my screen, all of a sudden everything went blank and I was told to remove the hud and return to the surface to reset. Apparently, I had died.

I decided not to bother with the hud and went back under water to explore.

Is that shark looking at me? Lets get away from the food chain and explore this way.

Nice!

After the near-death experience with the shark (and the prior actual-death experience with the hud), I opted for a smaller pool to paddle in.

Opps, perhaps not. This spot looks like a bit less drama...

Or maybe not.

What a day!

All in all, a pretty good experience, and I highly recommend trying out the Huds/AOs. Take some friends and chill on the beachside. This place has 4 sims, and there are many more places to explore (like a nature walkway and lookouts).

Today... C is for Carrot and I've ended up at a place called The Carrot House. Their claim to sell the 'cutest prim babies on SL' was yet to be seen, but I decided to keep an open mind.

Well - I can see why they named it The Carrot House... ...but I'm a bit hesitant to go in. Especially when this is the first thing youre confronted with.C'mon Banana. Check out the cute stuff, or the stuff that makes you laugh, And confront your SL baby fears! I grabbed the L1 demo baby - always try before you buy - and I tried out some of the animations (these guys have thought of everything!)... I cant decide if this is the "I'm a SLapper holding a baybee" or the "what the fark have I done?" or the "I look like an egg" pose.I took the Demobaby home and had a good look at it. Cute? Maybe. Spooky? Yeps. But I guess to the SL person that feels the need to enhance their SLife in that way, then each to their own. See ya on the next installment of The Banana Alphabet!

Today... B is for Blogger and I've ended up at a place called BlogHud. At first I thought "what a croc... a hud to blog? For (only!) L1500... bullmerde!"

There is a free version... but really - why does one need a hud to blog???The more I investigated, the more I liked what this Hud has to offer. I followed the web link, and this is what I found...

When someone posts via the hud, it appears on this website. Yay - I've found a veritable showcase of places to visit - plus pictures!

I dont think I'll use the Hud, but I will definetly be watching the website. Whats good enough for The Torley, is good enough for me!

I have stuff to share with you today, thats this big...WhoNose is closing down (wipe tear) and all items at the mainstore are 50% off. This makes the items even cheaper - as if they werent low enough before. So (of course) I went shopping. I bought this worm shirt (above) and this denim set (below), which also comes with the cute green shirt. I love the plunging neckline (as does Midd) and I paired it with HoD's FLF necklace (love), and a YS&YS skin (currently on sale at TDR - The Dressing Room, and comes with a black hair attachment - not shown). Speaking of TDR - snatch up these Dare poses while youre there.
Next up is this dollarbie dress at Petunia. This store has some great deals, is nearly always in a hunt, and often has regular dollar items. I've paired it with a free skin from Sunny Soon Su.
We cant go through an entire sharing post without more of a commentary on some FLF items. Check out this skin from Lelutka (omg, comes with a trillion items like cleavage on two clothing layers, eyelashes, hair bases, eyes, 4 skin tones, pubic options on two clothing layers... great deal for only L50 - fight the lag, because youre worth it), this cute necklace from Scribble and this way cool Miel headpiece that has color-change flowers and comes with a headband option.

Sigma Jewellery

I dont buy jewellery in SL. I just couldnt be blowed with the finicky editing, the adjusting, the complications when you add a collar to your clothes, the boobage-fittage, the inflexible prims and most of all, I could never find a style that I liked. Or the price.

I explored a store today, called Sigma, and I must say: love. Enough so, that I made three purchases! Whilst not cheap, this store is not overly expensive either. The three items shown here were all around L350 each. The above item came with a bracelet (not shown) and the below item came in both gold and silver versions.

The necklaces come with spine or collar attachments (thankyou!) and the below item also had full-bright versions.

The thing I like most about Sigma, was that it wasnt overly blingee or bright jewellery. There were different (natural) tones for most of the items, and everything was unique and well... cool. There was minimal editing required, and the boobage-fittage wasnt even required. Love!

I have many things to share with y'all today! Banana has been buying up a storm.

First up we have a new cute romper outfit from Epic. A fantastic buy at L215 and comes with fishnets (paired up with Mother Goose skin, Eha hair, Glow lashes and GField shoes).
The Dressing Room had a few good buys this week - like this L70 skin from Dekade and L70 Mimikri outfit (paired with Artilleri hair and Kookie boots). Does Artilleri still sell hair? Quick answer, no. Bah-humbug.

I had a DSN drop in my inventory over the week - two items from Equilibrium - top and jeans- yay! Its a mens store, but I dont careeeee! (Hair from Scribble, shoes from Kookie)

I dont know how long this dress has been sitting in my inventory and waiting to be blogged. About two weeks I think - better late than never! I found this place in a mall that I was wandering around in while looking for another place. lol. This is from Winney's, and it only cost a piddly little L80. I matched it with Kookie FLF sandals, a Lamb bob and Lazolli skin. (Does Lazolli exist anymore? Quick answer, no. Bah-humbug.)

And another outfit that was gathering cobwebs is this ensemble from M2M. I like the variations in choices, and it comes in three colors - blue (shown), purple and yellow. (paired with Dekade skin, Lamb hair/hat and Kookie shoes.

Phew.

I think I bought a part-share in the Pookie Flea Market today.

This Fume Peacock dress was L150, the Oh hair was only L100 per color......and this The Sea Hole jumpsuit was L215. I couldnt resist a bit of a boogey while wearing it.Then I began to go a bit wild with my purchases and bought this Teefy jacket (L275), Ufo dress (L99) and Ufo boyfriend jeans (L180 for three).And other honorable mentions, are the FLF dress from SMS and the mighty cool new Kookie boots. At L500 per shade, they arent for the faint(linden) hearted, but well worth the lighter wallet!

The new rbcg store opens very soon, so you need to keep this LM in your inventory! The store is vast. Much bigger (imho) than the old store.

I found a good spot...

I bought along an rbcg popsicle, but it melted in my bag. Silly Banana.

My shoes got a bit dirty on the beach. Lucky I had other colors to choose from, cause these are past it. Peeee-ewwwww! After a long time in the sun, I headed home...

I checked out the It was a Blur exhibition today and (between crashes) it was fab. Many of the exhibits are interactive - photo opportunities abound...

...and there are items to buy, and items for free. I'm loving this Miel hair! (Warning, in the script, there is an option to 'Turn off script'. Which I pressed. And cant get it working again - duh.)

In Second Life, we've got beaches, foreshore, oceans and land that are beautiful, pristine, clean and are worth protecting. We dont want to have to be clearing up oil spills; just like our RL counterparts. Unfortunately, due to them RL folk making some big-time mistakes, its gotta be done.

We need to band together and help all we can, to support this clean-up. So people and wildlife can enjoy clean waters. Just like me and this, er, sheep.

I didnt think it had been that long since I had logged in, but Banana's hair sure has grown! I tried tying it all back, but it just got messy - way too much hair.

Just pulling it back from the face didnt work for me either.

So I tried lopping off the fringebangswhatever. Nope - still too much hair.

Shake your groove thing

Ya know, the trouble with trying to find an outfit to match shoes is a tricky business. It leads to several purchases, too many choices, and you're no better off then when you started.
I was heading off to a Bloggers Party (all invited - you should come next time), and I really really wanted to wear my new shoes but couldnt find the perfect LBD in my inventory. Well - thats a lie - I found plenty of options, but nothing that rocked my boat.
I headed on down to a new-to-me store called Modern Gypsy and found several great options ranging between 200-300 Lindys. Trouble is, I liked all of them. I settled for the middle dress, did my hair, and off I went. Woohoo - people everywhere!

And I shaked my groove thing for all of about 10 minutes, before I had to leave.

Oh well, it was still worth it!

It looks like Logging In may become a bit more frequent these days - I felt the need to get a shopping fix again. When RL money is tight, its great to know my dollar will go a long way. Ahh, the joys of SL.

Today I hopskipjumped down to Minerva as there was a necklace on SLex&TheCity that I wanted to get. Alas, it was nowhere to be found, but I did manage to stumble upon two different hunt items which are well worth the time to grab.

The 'Fashion is Love' hunt item is the skin on the right - way cool colorings and I think I'll be wearing that it for a while. And the 'Geekgasm' hunt item is the skin on the left, the shape, the eyes and the eyelashes. Now that worth hunting for! While also on the feeds, I noticed these cute 1L flats from Duh!. When I TPd there, I saw a B on the lucky chair and I was rewarded with a lime-green pair of espadrilles. So of course, I had to buy the phatpack for only 60L. The bestest thing about Duh is the prices, so if you havent already, and your purse strings are tight, check it out. Lastly, I saw that Epic had some cheapie shoes on their lucky chair. At over 15 mins per letter, I wasnt sticking around, so I bought them instead - pretty good buy for only 99L! Happy shopping!

Two great finds, in more ways than one...

Youve been to Imabee to pick up the 50L skin, right? Make sure you check out the rest of the sim - there are a few great things for you to find!
Except for the birds. They freaked me out. The sim has a few places to chillax. But I wouldnt recommend this coffee- its been sitting there a while. Join their group (invitation board is next to the landing spot, or look in my profile), then head over to the Cafe for some fresh coffee...

...and while youre there, check out the daily special! On the other side of the sim is the So Many Styles store - yay! After an afternoon of 'sploring, I needed a catnap. I couldnt resist looking at my blogroll before logging off, and I spotted the BBBC 2010 challenge that I missed. Buggabuggabugga. So heres my catchup...

Why did you become a blogger? How has it enriched your life?
I became a blogger becuase I have a need to share things. Even if no-ones reading. Its enriched my life by giving me an outlet, and a whole bunch of new friends. I've also found a trillion of other blogs that I would otherwise have never known about.

Write about three positive things going on in your Second Life.
1.My SL partner is now with me in RL. Finally. The biggest and bestest positive that could ever have happened to me. (That counts, right?)
2.I have a rental that is not costing me the earth. Literally. I bought a sim and loved it, but it certainly drains the finances. My current abode is just the right size, and is not laggy at all. Love.
3.I still have readers on my blog even thought I'm not blogging daily. Yay!

How hard do you think it is to find a relationship in SL? If you have an SL relationship, have you met in the physical world? Would you meet them? Do you think it would change your SL relationship if you met?
Its not hard to find a relationship at all. But just like irl, you may have to kiss a few frogs before you find a prince. And just like irl, the frogs may cheat on you, they may lie, and they may hurt you. The prince wont - remember that.
Yes, we've met irl - I knew it from the start that'd we'd be together. And just like irl, relationships evolve and change, so our SL relationship is now different - we dont hang out anymore cause we're sitting next to each other irl. rofl.

Is your avatar more or less your current biological age? Do you portray a younger avatar, or older? Why is this?
I dont age play, but the great thing about mainstream avs like mine is that they can be ageless in some respect. Banana could be anywhere between 15-50. And thats how I like her to be - so yes, more or less my current biological age!

I havent blogged for ages. So I'm feeling the need to blog and tell you. Senseless, right?

Its not just blogging that I've neglected. Banana is not feeling much love from me these days. Its not that I dont care, its more that I am busybusybusy with RL. Its always the way, right?

SL can sometime just consume too much time, that the thought of logging in for a few seconds to clear messages is just a tunnel dream. I find that if I log in, I see messages from friends that just must be replied to, notices that I just cant ignore, blogposts to read, rent to pay, things to buy and theres always stuff to do. Then if I get inspired to write a blogpost, its all encompassing and I know I wont get off the computer for about an hour. And poor Midd sits and waits.

It took all my strength today to ignore all the notices and just write a quick reply to the two people that IMd me. I TPd to one store and removed myself from their subscribo (the daily spamy notices just got too much) and then I started to log out. Until a swipe of quilt came across me... so I'm still logged in while I write this. I have no idea why. Maybe just trying to conspensate Banana with some form of substitute love by keeping her logged in just a moment longer? She doesnt know that I'm not actively walking her around. She just knows she's logged in and breathing some metavirtual air for the first time in a few weeks.

Dont tell her. K?

I just had to log in to SL when I saw a notice from the Pr!tty group advising of new hair. I love love love Pr!tty hair - the colors and styles are just fab. On the right is the aptly named 'Proud to be a nerd' (195L) and in the front is the new 'Trendy Treehugger' (200L). And if you get in quick, the one on the left (Ivy) is on sale for only 50L. Gotta love a sale!

I wouldnt lie to you, its just that we havent come up for air much. Rofl, just kidding.

Thought I would drop you all a line and tell you that everything is just grand. Hunkydory. A-ok. Luverly. Sweet as. Fantastic. Bloody farken marvelous.

We've been visiting the folks this weekend, so I came back to find nearly 100 group notices. Many looked interesting but when I logged in I only recieved 5. FIVE! Luckily I got the notecards and objects that really counted - a LM to Zany's artwork and a photo album from Whales and Maleila's wedding (below).

When will the Lab sort out this notice-business? Why cant there just be an auto-accept on all notecards, inventory offers and items sent? Although in saying that, it would mean a shite-load of items in your inventory if you didnt log in for a month...or year. But cant we have the option?!

In the meantime, I'm going to go and cuddle Hubby IRL!

Five vendors on the Love Soul sim have some items out for 50% off, and the theme is yellow! I dont think its in my honor, something about spring. Ra-ra-ra. (*wink)

I couldnt resist these two pairs of shoes from R2. I love most of the shoes from this store, so any chance to get them at a discount and I'm in! I'm particularly loving the heel details.

I saw this shirt on another blog, and just had to have. What a deal at only 100L! You can get one too (also in black) from Mr Poet.

And since I had lindens burning holes in my pockets (not the real Lindens, they dont fit, silly.), I snatched up this houndstooth jacket for another 100L. Score!

I logged on today to another influx of notecards with mentions of sales and freebies. The days shopping look all full of promise.
But...eh.

Fishy Strawberry apologised for being late with putting out their FLF gift (four others were also late, due to the SL issues last night), and I thought it was very cool of them to put out a freebie as an apology (Lingerie below left- comes with stockings). A very fab gift, and I feel it way outshines their obviously photosourced FLF shirt (below right).The other major disapointment for the day was the group skin skin from NoT Buttons (middle). Lucky I had a headband handy so my hair didnt get greasy... and the tan is way too orange for my liking - I put a Cupcakes 'copper' skin on to compare (right). The skin on the left is another one from Not Buttons - the ASH hunt item instore. Still orange, but at least it wasnt as oily as the one in the middle! (And whats with the faces on the knees??? Really should exfoliate before putting on fake tan.)
Thank goodness the Clawtooth by Clawtooth FLF hair (left and right) saved me from insanity today!

I love a good explore (dont you know it!) and when I landed on the Adorable sim, I couldnt help myself from doing a spot of shopping. All in the name of research of course...

I picked up this cute outfit from a place called Izm. It was comfy enough to go exploring in, so off I went. First up, the sim has a very plain appearance with a country meadow feel. Normal places to sit and relax, you can spend a bit of time planning your shopping with the 9-or-so stores scattered around the perimeter.
Enough mooching, time to look for the stores. "Excuse me sir, do you know where the stores are?"

Hmmm... not up here. But I got in a spot of sunbathing.

"...and so I said to him: Excuse me sir, do you know where the stores are? Hahaha"

OooOOooOooooo, a hidden tunnel!

"Do you Yellowbanana take thee Bluedot to be your lawfully wedded SL partner?"

"Oh Bluedot, I knew you loved me!"

After all that, I got round to visiting the rest of the stores on the sim. A couple of womens clothes stores, one hair store (the yummy Cri Cri) one store for men, jewellery, furniture, trees, bits'n'bobs, and if you want one... a piano!

Zero style has more than it thinks...

A reader made a suggestion to visit Zero Style, and since I've been known to do a bit of exploring, off I went (giggle). Zero Style is a pretty well known hair store, but I've never checked out the sim. I was pleasantly surprised! There are several places to pose, but not with too many of the 'normal' stuff I've been seeing of late. For example, the addition of the bunny in this setting.I spent so long looking around, that I ordered pizza. In true RL Banana style, I ate too much.

Then I found a set of poseballs to kiss under the mistletoe. Hubby wasnt online, and I got a little sad.

Trying to perk myself up, I continued with explorations. I promise I didnt touch the clock tower... it wasnt my fault... honest.

But just in case the blame got put on me, I attempted a quick getaway. "C'mon lads, lets get moving!!!"

Giving up on the dogs, I tried my luck with the horses but felt like I was just going round in circles.

To remain distant from the clock-tower incident, I leaped through meadows...

...and finally rested with a good cuppa to watch the sunset.

Its hard being a banana.

Petunia has this great dollarbie dress out for this weekend only. Way cool!
I couldnt resist buying these Haven Designs pants. They wont break your bank and all proceeds go to Relay For Life. All the more reason to buy them! I've matched them with a freebie shirt from Gato.
While I was at Sand Shack Surf Co for FLF, I spotted this cute dress and had to have it. Even at 200L, I think its a fair purchase and I hope to get alot of wear out of it. I think the top is fab, and love that the skirt has leg and waist attachments so I can alter the look. I matched it with the new A-Bomb sandals, which are sooo cool. And color-change too, which rocks!

Skin whore!

I'm a skin whore.
Its weird, because up until a year ago, I was a one-skin-gal and had only gone through three skins in my whole SL life. But since I've started blogging, and realising that they dont have to cost the earth, I've been experimenting with shapes and skins and all sorts of styles. To the point where I now need to give my skins folder a few categories, and take a weekend to sort and file.

For example, in the past 24 hours, I've picked up these 7 skins. For a total of around 101L. Thats not bad at all!

Ohh-la-licious free sample to the Vain group. Its a heavy makeup that'd look good in an evening setting.
&bean dollarbie. It does make this shape look overtired, but thats the point. It has a few tears on the skin too - great for some themed pics.

From Plastik, this skin comes as part of the FLF pack for a pink-themed avatar. I reckon the skin would look great in some moody setting. This next skin from Adore & Abhor makes this av look extremely pissed off, however I do like the simplicity of this FLF purchase.
Lastly are three freebies from Imabee. Dark and heavy, but very cool colors.

Now... to try and find a free day to sort through and sort my skins folder...
