A day after posting about the sim I'm on, and gushing about its wonderfulness, the sections next door were snapped up. Next thing I know, I see a huge monstrous gothly black structure next door and was just gutted that my view was blackened. I just didnt know what to do!
Well - theres not much you can do, so Hubby and I had a little fun that afternoon editing the terrain and added a big mountain range in between the sections as a bit of a joke. While doing so, my new neighbor IMd me asking why I was doing it, and did I not like her new garden? Not having the heart (or guts) to tell the truth, I said we were just playing, and I lowered the Himalayas to a few small rolling hills out of courtesy. In fact, I quite liked my new landscaping and even posted about it. But today, I logged on and saw a long ugly-textured fence between the properties.
I preferred the Himalayas. So I raised my rolling hills to cover the ugly fence.
It was by pure coincidence, and therefore satisfaction, to see that I've half swallowed the fence on their side.

Better the devil you know.Dont get me wrong, I've got nothing against big dark buildings, bdsm, gothic, or anything, but not in my back yard tyvm. If this 'situation' gets worse, I think I'll be moving on at the end of the month. Anyone know of a place?

6 peeps had something to say:
It is hard when someone chooses a home that is just completely out of place with the feel of the sim. If your neighbor asks again, just tell them the truth. Either they'll change it or they won't. But at least they'll know. :)
well done. and yes, i know of a place....
If I hate LL, I do mainly for two motives. First are database issues, which means there is nothing safe in our inventories. And second comes land.
There is no technical motive for land to be so crunched; bigger land while keeping prim limits, would improve performance, since there would be less items to view; but of course, when a neiborhood makes our experience crappy, we are pushed to get a sim... and then, when the seaside is so small, more than one.
So crunched land is good economically, and yes, any enterprise has the right to get as much money as they can... but they shouldn't do at the expense of everybody's experience, and even more when they are begging to attract new customers.
Said that, your neiborhood is STUPID! Just after ranting because you build a mountain range, she goes and puts an ugly fence without asking you? Arrrrgh!
Rofl London, you cracked me up, and gave me a good reality check.
Strangely enough, I'm on a pretty big section (imo) and the neighbors section is HUGE. Unfortunately, she build her 'thing' to scale.
If we all built things to scale, all those freenis's would be obsolete... Just saying.
And yes Alicia, I should have just said the truth. Next time I will. :)
It is incredible how little details (or huge buildings) can spoil everything when they affect something we love; and there is a lot of feeling in building a home, for you and probably for her.
As Alice said, you could try to talk with her, if not about her building, at least about the fence; if not, you risk leaving and having the same problem with a new neiborhood. And who knows? Maybe she will leave after some weeks; it happens often.
You could also put some trees, even if yes, you will know that thing is still behind them.
At the end, if the situation makes you unhappy there is little left but moving, as you already said. But it is so sad, when we are forced to leave a place we love because we love it.
I suggest putting up a screen between your properties. Make it phantom, invisible on their side but has some lovely landscape picture on your side. It is perfectly acceptable, and many people do it because they face the same difficulty you do. Use a megaprim - plenty for free on Xstreet. It is not true that they cause lag, not the latest ones anyway (look for the Salt HUD) :)
